Yesterday in Harare, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Honourable Professor dr. Amon Murwira, held an interface with members of the media at an event organised by the Zimbabwe Foreign Service Institute.
Speaking during a Diplomatic Training Programme for journalists, Prof. Murwira underscored the critical role of diplomacy in safeguarding Zimbabwe’s national interests, stressing that while freedom of expression is a constitutional right, a nation must speak with one coherent and authorised voice on international matters.
He cautioned that unregulated or speculative commentary on foreign policy risks misrepresenting the country, threatening peace, economic stability, and social cohesion. Prof. Murwira emphasized that Zimbabwe’s official position on international affairs is articulated through its established diplomatic channels, led by H.E. @edmnangagwa, the country’s Chief Diplomat.
This engagement highlighted the importance of responsible journalism and alignment between the media and national interests in shaping Zimbabwe’s foreign policy narrative. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3899501373676143
